Poor Pride: Coming Out as Broke
We are all the recession together so you are not alone.

I am starting a new movement: Poor Pride. It's no secret that the economy is down. People all over the country have been affected and Benicians are no different. Most of us are suffering from some sort of financial deficit, but nobody is talking about it. Who wants to admit they are broke?
Experts say that the recession is far from over so we need to hunker down and prepare for the long haul. How do we keep your spirits up through the hardship?
I like to think of it as a 12-step program. The first step to admit that there is a problem. Without shame, look yourself in the mirror and say, “I'm broke.” Once you can admit it to yourself, you can admit it to your family, friends and neighbors. Go ahead and liberate yourself and drop the act that everything is alright.

I believe it is possible to be broke and still maintain your dignity, your self-worth and a decent quality of life. I am talk to friends and colleagues about how they dealing with it and sharing ideas on how to survive this financial desert.
It's easy to dwell on what we don't have, so I try to focus on what I do have, be it my health, family or friends. When I feel really pathetic, I find perspective and inspiration by watching movies like Sea Biscuit and The Pursuit of Happyness.

I am searching for ideas on how to lower expenses, find additional income and maintain a good quality of life so toss me your ideas and I'll share them. If we pull together and support each other, we can get through it so now is the time to embrace your Benician village.
Finally, there is no shame in being poor. Don't be afraid to say, “I'm poor and I'm proud”.
