Raw cacao, don’t leave home without it!
What would you take with you for a trip that didn't exactly have a return date? Here is a list of my top ten, "must haves," if traveling by car.
I am told on a Thursday night that I am needed at ‘home,’ so I set my mind to getting ready to be on the road by noon the next day. That is ambitious since I have classes and appointments to cancel and arrangements to be made. Thanks to the internet, it’s a breeze. I am traveling to my home town, a small town, where there is no Whole Food Market, and I will pretty much be home-bound, not that there is much to venture out and see there anyway. What would you take with you for a trip that didn’t exactly have a return date? Here is a list of my top ten, “must haves,” if traveling by car:
1.) Videos, books and my computer, for entertainment and work (there is no internet connection in the home where I am staying)
2.) Fermented purple cabbage, (home made sauerkraut), for pro-biotics

3.) Sprout seeds and a jar for sprouting fresh baby greens
4.) Spices for flavoring food (soy sauce, salt and sugar are the things I can expect to see in these cupboards)

5.) Quinoa, a wild rice/grain mixture, and bag of lentils (white rice is the only grain cooked here for decades)
6.) Shoes, clothes and a jacket
7.) Cosmetics, shampoo, cream rinse, bath salts and coconut oil (for moisturizer, make-up remover, cooking with, and making chocolates)
8.) Lemons from my neighbor's tree
9.) Dumbbells, a mat for yoga, straps for stretching and ‘functional training,’ and a foam roller for self massage
10.) I struggled with this last one, but am so happy I brought them. Supplies for making raw chocolates; cocoa butter, coconut oil, cacao powder, cacao nibs honey, and sea salt. I brought one mold for forming chocolates. I am, after all, crazy for cacao!
