Brush Fire Burns Near I-680 In Benicia, Sends Smoke Through Area
The vegetation fire producing large plumes of smoke closed all lanes of southbound I-680.
BENICIA, CA — A vegetation fire was burning Monday afternoon near Bayshore and Park roads and was resulting in heavy smoke throughout the area, Benicia police said.
Aerial photos show large plumes of smoke rising from the fire, which broke out around 1:20 p.m. near Interstate Highway 680.
A Sig-alert was issued around 1:45 p.m., with all lanes of southbound I-680 closed just north of the Benicia Bridge, California Highway Patrol reported.

All lanes of I-680 were reopened as of 4:21 p.m., CHP said in an update.
I-680 southbound is closed at the Benicia Bridge due to a fire, for an unknown period of time. Please plan ahead, use alternative routes.
