Busy Weekend for Benicia Residents: Support for Our Troops, Run For Education, Maintenance for Playground, Girl Scouts Exhibit at Museum

It doesn’t matter if you prefer to sit and watch or get dirty and sweaty while you participate, the weekend of April 14-15, 2012 has plenty of action for either mindset.

Honor the troops by coming downtown Saturday morning for the parade honoring the men and women of the California Army National Guard 749th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion.  They recently returned to Benicia from Iraq. 

The on Saturday, so after you cheer for the troops come to City Park and spend a couple of hours volunteering at this beautiful downtown playground.

The Benicia Education Foundation is hosting the .  There are 5K and 10K options.  If you aren’t a runner, you can certainly be a cheerer.  All Proceeds from the event will support libraries and technology programs at Benicia schools.
