Voices at the Table
An Invitation to an October Afternoon of Poetry
Sunday, October 25, 2026 • 2:30–5:00 p.m. Vacaville, California
Dear Friends,
I invite you to join me at Voices at the Table on Sunday, October 25, for an intimate afternoon of poetry in my home in Vacaville. Please note that our October gathering will begin at 2:30 p.m and our last open mic until 2027.
Closed for the Holidays: November and December
Our featured poets—Louise Moises, Lyrical J, Kevon “Priest” Potts, and Woody Shiflett—will bring their distinct voices to the table. Experience will find its lyric; a new voice will rise into its own light. We will hear the weight a few words can hold, and the ways memory becomes story, then song.
I have always loved the moment when a room grows still around a poet’s voice. Someone pauses, recognizing a piece of their own life in what has been spoken, and the words touch the heart. That is the spirit I hope to share with you.
A champagne reception and refreshments will welcome us as we gather. Come listen, meet the poets, and enjoy the warmth of our shared table.
Because this gathering takes place in a private home, an RSVP is required to stng21@yahoo.com. Please let me know you will be joining us; the address will be shared after you RSVP.
Sadly, this will be our last open mic for 2026 with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up.
But we will be back on January 24, 2027with our kick off open mic for the new year with new poets and new featured musical guests.
There is a place for your voice at this table, too.

Open mic after our guest poets.
No theme,
But if you have a Halloween poem, please bring and share it with everyone.
Warmly, Valdez Hill Host, Voices at the Table

🎨 What if you painted what a landscape feels like instead of trying to paint every tiny detail?
Join artist Ebbie Navas for a welcoming, beginner-friendly workshop exploring the expressive side of landscape painting.
You’ll use familiar landscape elements such as sky, water, hills, fields, and shoreline as a starting point, then learn how to simplify them through:
✨ Color ✨ Layering ✨ Texture ✨ Shape ✨ Movement ✨ Expressive mark-making
Ebbie will help you build depth, loosen your brushwork, and make creative choices as your painting develops.
This is not a step-by-step class where everyone copies the same finished sample. Your painting will reflect your own colors, marks, and interpretation.
No previous abstract painting experience needed.
Wednesday, October 28, 2026 1:00–3:30 PM $45 Adults Beginner-friendly Limited to 6 seats
🎨 Optional Premium Materials Kit: +$40
📍 The Little Art Shop Studio 129 First St., Benicia, CA
If you love landscapes but have ever thought, “There is no way I could paint all of that,” this class may be exactly what you need.
Featured artwork is original artwork by Ebbie Navas.
