The incident happened early Sunday morning on Interstate Highway 80.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- A Palmdale man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate Highway 80 early Sunday morning when he went to help a driver who was involved in a crash, California Highway Patrol officials said today.
Gustavo Valles Garcia, 28, of Fairfield, was driving a 2012 Toyota Tacoma at about 2 a.m. when it struck a metal guardrail in the gore point of the Hunter Hill rest area off-ramp on westbound Highway 80 about 7 miles east of Vallejo, according to the CHP.
The Toyota spun to the left and back onto westbound I-80 before it stopped facing south in the No. 2 and No. 3 lanes, CHP officials said.

At the same time, Greg Allan Tormey, 62, of Vacaville, was driving a 2009 GMC Sierra 70 to 80 mph west in the No. 2 lane of the highway when he struck the driver's side of Garcia's Toyota. The impact caused the Toyota to strike and kill Chunn, according to the CHP.
