Carnegie Hall Classical Guitarist To Perform In Benicia

A special recital featuring Peter Fletcher is free on a first-come-first-served basis.

A Classical Guitar Recital with Peter FletcherBenicia, CA (November 14, 2019) — Please join the Benicia Library, located at 150East L Street, for a special recital with Carnegie Hall classical guitarist, PeterFletcher on Sunday, November 17, 2019 @ 6 pm. Admission is free, on a first come, first serve basis.

Fletcher is an American classical guitarist based in Detroit and New York City. Heperforms over 100 concerts a year, and his recordings on the Centaur Records andTowerhill Recordings labels have been critically acclaimed. “Peter has played quitea few times for the audience at the Library, and we are so glad to have him back,”said David Dodd, Director of Library and Cultural Services.

Fletcher offers an audience-friendly, solo recital, including repertoire that runs thegamut from the Baroque Period through the 20th century. His current recital programfeatures “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and “Lute Suite No. 1” by J. S. Bach,Paganini’s ever popular “Caprice No. 24,” the fiendishly difficult “Five Bagatelles” byBritish composer William Walton, and “Recuerdos de la Alhambra,” a great favoriteamong audiences, by Spanish composer Francisco Tarrega. In addition, Peter willperform a very special solo version of Vivaldi’s “Concerto in D Major,” and two of hisoriginal transcriptions from his critically acclaimed Fedrico Mompou album, releasedon Centaur Records in 2002. The concert will culminate with Isaac Albeniz’s“Rumores de la Caleta,” one of the most exciting Spanish works in the classicalguitar repertoire.

During his Winter 2019 concert tour, he performed at the very prestigious WinyahAuditorium in Georgetown, South Carolina, and had the very good fortune ofreceiving a feature article in The Cabin in Conway, Arkansas. He also received afeature article in “Gulf Coast News Today” in Gulf Shores, Alabama, where heperformed at the Baldwin Theater.
