1 Killed In Carquinez Bridge Crash
The collision midspan prompted a Sig-alert Monday afternoon for eastbound Interstate Highway 80.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — UPDATED July 24, 2018: One person died in a big-rig crash that occurred on the Carquinez Bridge Monday afternoon, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said. The collision was reported at about 3:20 p.m. about mid-span where a dump truck, big-rig and another vehicle had collided it was initially reported.
CHP Officer David Harvey, however, said a collision occurred between an Isuzu utility truck and a Dodge Charger and no one was injured.
But after the drivers and only occupants exited their vehicles a big-rig broadsided the vehicles, pushing them into the two people.

Both drivers were critically injured and one person died, Harvey said.

ORIGINAL POST July 23, 2018: All lanes of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 on the Carquinez Bridge were reopened as of about 5:30 p.m. Monday following a collision involving several vehicles, according to California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported midspan at about 3:24 p.m. Monday and a Sig-alert was issued at 3:34 p.m. because the number three and number four lanes were blocked.
A dump truck, big rig and another vehicle were reportedly involved in the crash. An ambulance crew was dispatched to the scene but the number of people injured and the extent of any injuries was not immediately clear.
CHP reported that at one point, traffic was backed up for at least three miles before the crash scene.
