Driver Dies In I-80 Rollover Crash East Of American Canyon Road
A woman driving a Toyota sedan died in the crash; a man riding as her passenger suffered major injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.
SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A woman died and a man riding as her passenger suffered major injuries in a rollover crash Sunday on Interstate Highway 80 east of American Canyon Road, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened at 1:45 p.m. on eastbound I-80 as the driver of a 1999 Toyota Avalon sedan changed lanes, going from the slow — No. 4 — lane across all lanes, and lost control of her car, CHP Officer David Harvey said.
The Toyota veered back across all lanes and onto the right shoulder, where it hit a dirt embankment, then rolled over and came to rest on McGary Road, Harvey said.

The driver of the Toyota, identified by the CHP and Solano County coroner's office as 27-year-old Alichia Church, of Yuba City, was taken to NorthBay Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
A 41-year-old Oakland man who was riding in the front passenger seat of the Toyota suffered major injuries and was also taken to NorthBay Medical Center.

Monday afternoon, the CHP was still actively investigating the fatal crash.
"At this time, drugs and/or alcohol intoxication is not known to be a factor in this traffic collision," Harvey said.
