Election Wrap From Solano County
Voters pass school bond, sales tax, elect slew of city council members.

Voters in Solano County on Tuesday appear to have re-elected a county supervisor and passed a hefty school bond while rejecting another, among other races and measures on the ballot, according to incomplete and unofficial election results.
Updated election results are expected to be announced on Thursday. District 3 County Supervisor Jim Spering was re-elected to the Board of Supervisors with roughly 59 percent of the vote, edging out Fairfield City Councilwoman Pam Bertani, who garnered about 41 percent.
Measure A, a $194 million Vacaville Unified School District bond measure to renovate and upgrade schools within the district, appears to have passed with 60.7 percent of the vote, according to unofficial election results.

Meanwhile, a $239 million school bond in the Vallejo City Unified School District fell short of the 66 percent voter approval needed to pass, unofficial election results show.
Benicia voters appear to have passed Measure C, a one-cent sales tax meant to accelerate municipal infrastructure projects and to maintain and improve 911 response and park and street maintenance, among other city services.

Voters in Benicia also appear to have narrowly passed a measure to make the city treasurer an appointed rather than an elected position, which is expected to be a cost-saving move.
In Vacaville, City Councilman Len Augustine won the city’s mayoral race with 53 percent of the vote over City Councilman Ron Rowlett, who earned about 40 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results.
Vacaville voters also appear to have re-elected City Councilman Mitch Mashburn and City Councilman Curtis Hunt to the two open seats on the council, although longtime local resident and businesswoman Cara Fox trailed closely behind, unofficial election results show.
Fairfield voters appear to have elected incumbent City Councilwoman Catherine Moy and former City Councilman Chuck Timm to fill the council’s two open seats.
In Suisun City, incumbents City Councilwoman Jane Day and Councilman Mike Hudson were each re-elected with about 23 percent of the vote.
Dixon City Treasurer Scott Pederson and former City Councilman Ted Hickman appear to have been elected to the City Council with roughly 22 percent and 20 percent of the vote, respectively.
