Art Opening: Arts Benicia Presents: Sandra Summerfield Kozak at the Rellik Tavern

Sandra Summerfield Kozak paints to express the understandings she has gained in over three decades of studying Eastern and Western philosophy and psychology.  

Her work is intended to be visual representations of different aspects of the mind, consciousness and Spirit that create a quiet space for Self-awareness.The exhibition includes her most recent body of work, the Spirit Boat Series. Summerfield Kozak stated that "the 'Spirit Boat Series' speaks to the idea of incarnation of spirit into body. Each boat is a vessel for the transportation of the spirit both into and from this life, as well as moving from one life to another.

As presented in ancient Eastern texts, these "Spirit Boats" represent the vessels that house spirit, protect it, and move it through life and lives." The exhibition is on view from December 6 - March 6, 2012.
