Centennial Celebration of California Women’s Right to Vote
First Program in Series: September 10 at 3 PM
The Benicia-Vallejo Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), League of Women Voters Benicia, Soroptimist of Benicia, the Benicia Historical Society, and the Benicia Unified School District have joined together to plan a fall series of events to celebrate the Centennial of Women’s Suffrage in California.
California became the sixth state in the country where women could vote on October 10, 1911 – nine years ahead of the passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in 1920 that empowered women with the vote across the country.
