Coroner IDs Motorcyclist Who Died In I-780 Crash In Benicia

A motorcyclist who died Monday afternoon in a wreck on westbound Interstate Highway 780 has been identified as a local 31-year-old.

BENICIA, CA — The Solano County Sheriff-Coroner's Office has identified a motorcyclist who died in a crash Monday afternoon on Interstate Highway 780 in Benicia as Scott Glen, 31, of Vallejo.

The fatal wreck was reported at about 1:25 p.m. on westbound I-780 just west of Interstate Highway 680. Glen was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:36 p.m., the coroner's office said.

The collision left the No. 1 lane blocked and prompted a sig-alert that lasted for about two hours.

The CHP received reports that the motorcycle rider, now identified as Glen, may have been driving recklessly prior to the accident.

California Highway Patrol Officer David Harvey said Glen had just driven from northbound Highway 680 onto westbound Highway 780 when he crashed his Honda sport motorcycle into the center median guardrail for a reason still under investigation.

In addition to CHP, personnel with the Benicia police and fire departments also responded to the scene.
