Five Apartments Gutted in Early Morning Fire in Suisun City

Eleven families comprised of eight children and 12 adults were displaced but are expected to be housed in vacant apartments at the complex.

A fire burned five of 12 apartment units and damaged the others in the Village Green Apartments complex in Suisun City early Friday morning, Suisun City Fire Department Battalion Chief Alan Knopp said.

Eleven families comprised of eight children and 12 adults were displaced but they are expected to be housed in vacant apartments at the complex, Knopp said.

The contents of the apartments at 780 Sunset Ave. were destroyed and part of the roof of the building containing the 12 units collapsed, Knopp said.

Firefighters controlled the fire in 90 minutes and spent four hours mopping up and salvaging contents of the building, Knopp said.

The cause and point of origin is under investigation and there were no injuries, Knopp said.

Twenty firefighters from Suisun City, Fairfield, Cordelia, Vallejo and Travis Air Force Base responded, Knopp said.
