For salads, go beyond the salad bar and seek out really dark leafy greens. Observe the color, the texture and denseness of the leaves, the thicker, stronger, darker ones are what I’d love you to look for. You don’t have to avoid the soft, lighter, and easier to chew salads that we have become accustomed to, it is greens that need to have their cell walls broken down as in kale, collard greens, broccoli, and cabbage, that I want you to try. What does that mean ‘to have to break down their cell walls?” These are dense in nutrition, they are thick-walled as in tough to eat, that is why I say break them down, so you have access to the nutrients. Some of the ways to do this: in a blender, as in a smoothie or in a juicer, as in frying lightly or parboiling, just to bright green, or in massaging oil into them with your hands. Some of these are going to be bitter, that flavor may not be what you are used to but that in it self lends to liver cleansing, weight loss, blood purification and detoxification. These are all results that you want because they boost your immunity and are mood-lifting. Mix them with other sweeter veggies and cook them with oil or mix them with fruit (as in a smoothie or juice) or add dressing. Experiment with adding different dark greens to your diet. These greens have many positive effects even further than the ones we’ve already mentioned. All live foods have enzymes and leafy greens are high in fiber and low in calories. These are nutrient dense foods and powerful cleansers and they aid in weight loss. An excerpt from my upcoming teleseminar "The top four superfoods for combating fatigue, allergies and brain fog."
