GET OUT: Art, Music and a Beaver Festival

Why Go: This twice-yearly peddlers’ faire is a gaint, all-day antique event downtown, where there are also dozens of antique stores. Merchants will have new items just for the faire.

Where/When: Solano County Fairgrounds, Vallejo; Friday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Why Go: There will be a giant carnival, nightly fireworks, family fun center and free nightly concerts with admission. Some headliners include Dokken, ConFunkShun, Air Supply and The Family Stone.

Where/When: Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, 1001 Fairgrounds Dr., Vallejo; Saturday, 4 p.m.

Why Go: Join legendary percussionist Pete Escovedo for an evening of latin jazz and salsa.

Where/When: 1395 E. 2nd St., Benicia; Friday, 5 p.m.

Why Go: Benicia Plein Air Gallery artist Dixie Mohan has a show at Umpqua Bank for the month of August. There will be a reception to kick off the show on Friday evening.

Where/When: Marina Vista & Alhambra avenues, Martinez; Saturday, 11 a.m.

Why Go: This celebration of the Martinez beavers who were saved by the community will feature live music, unique wildlife displays, and a “paint your own tail” activity complete with a contest/fashion show at 1:30 awarding prizes for the most creative entries.
