A play, and plant sale and more weekend fun

It's Mothers' Day weekend, and spring is in full bloom. Get out and celebrate.

Why Go: Many native varieties of plants will be for sale, and master gardeners in attendance to tell you the conditions each plant likes best.

2. 

Where/When: , 707 Marina Vista Ave, Martinez; Friday, 8 p.m. –11 p.m.

Why Go: Two singer/songwriters, one native and one import, perform Friday at Armando’s.

Pricing: $10

Where/When: 601 Marina Vista Ave, Martinez; Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Why Go: Take the kids to this free event to celebrate all things train. There will be a jumpy house, model trains and giveaways.

Where/When: Benicia Old Town Theatre Group 140 W J St, Benicia; Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m., Sunday matinee 2 p.m.

Why Go: Come out and support local actors putting on this two-act comedy about what happens to an unassuming young architect when someone from his past shows up at his door during an important dinner party.

Pricing: $20 adults; $18 seniors and students

Where/When:  , Salvio St & Grant St, Concord; Sunday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate Mom by dining at one of the great Todos Santos District restaurants, then treat Mom to a free concert on the Plaza stage by Johnny Cash tribute band, The Cash Tribute Band, featuring James Garner. Happy Mother’s Day!
