Lots of fun on tap for this weekend, whether you are headed east, west, or staying right here in Benicia:

Where/When: , 1101 Military West, Benicia; Friday 9 a.m.-noon

Why Go: Anyone who likes gardening and outdoor projects can help benefit the community by volunteering to plant trees at the high school. The committee also needs people who can bring their own tools.

2. 

Where/When: , 150 East St., Martinez; Saturday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Why Go: This all-day showcase of local bands benefits the school district music program.

Pricing: $20

 

3.  

Where/When: Alameda County Fairgrounds, Pleasanton; Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Why Go: The largest county fair in the area has tons of children’s and adult's entertainment, like carnival rides, a mini-tractor pull, pig races, a petting zoo and much more.

Pricing: Kids 12 and under free on Fridays; otherwise between $4-$10 admission

Where/When: , 595 Tennent Ave., Pinole; Sunday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Why Go: If any car made since 1975 is still “new” to you, then this is your car show. Come out and admire the chrome.

Pricing: Free admission

 

5. 

Where/When: Sleep Train Pavilion, 2000 Kirker Pass Rd., Concord; Sunday 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: The progressive rock trio makes its only Bay Area stop on its 2011 tour.
