Why Go: This May street fair has 200 cars competing for prizes, 20 awards, food, a raffle, live music and more. It’s a family-friendly environment and all proceeds go to the Martinez Unified School District. The raffle starts at 11 with the awards at 2.

Why Go: Sometimes a dose of a great ‘80s band is just what you need.

Why Go: Come hear a presentation on the spirits that surround us from the founders of the twice-monthly Benicia Ghost Walk. Luckily, this is held in the daylight.

Where/When: Alhambra Avenue and Franklin Canyon Road, Martinez; Saturday, 8:30 to 11 a.m.
Who Go: Climb Mount Wanda and observe the avian life that calls it home. Lucky birders might see a red-shouldered hawk, steller’s jay, western bluebird, Bewick’s wren, spotted towhee or even a great horned owl. There have been at least 100 species of birds identified on Mount Wanda and more than 40 breeding species that raise their young on site.
