The shooting happened at the corner of Cynthia Avenue and Amelia Street in a residential area, with the North Vallejo Community Center to the west and Crest Ranch Park to the east.
When officers got to the scene, they found five people suffering gunshot wounds: a 10-year-old child and four adults. The child was reportedly rushed to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland.
"Tragically, two adult victims, 63 and 37, succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at a local hospital," Jackson said.
The names of the two people fatally shot were being withheld Wednesday morning by the Solano County Coroner’s Office until their next of kin were properly notified.
"Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the victims' families," Jackson said.
Three shooting victims — a man, a woman and the 10-year-old child — are expected to survive.
Three of the people shot at the party live in Vallejo, while the 10-year-old child and the fourth adult victim were residents of the neighboring city of Benicia.
The two deaths are being investigated as homicides; Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Schillinger at 707-648-4278 or the Vallejo Police Department Crime Tip Line at 800-488-9383.
The two deaths mark the 10th and 11th homicides this year in the city of Vallejo.
