BENICIA, CA — We may hear coyotes but rarely do we see them, especially during daylight hours. So for Patch reader Jennifer Goodwin, who grew up in Benicia, it was a special moment.

She remembers it well. It was about 10:30 in the morning a couple of weeks ago following heavy rains. She was driving on Hastings Drive near Southampton Road when she spotted it. She pulled her truck to the side of the road and got out her camera, which she always carries with her.

"He stopped, sat and stared at me," Jennifer wrote in submitting the photo. "The picture doesn’t do him any justice; he was pretty big. As soon as I started to focus on him, he trotted away."

Thanks so much for sharing, Jennifer — what a great reminder of the wildlife who live here, too.
