Man Accused Of Assault With Machete In Benicia: Police
Two men were injured in the incident on Lindo Street; police said one of the men was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
BENICIA, CA — A 68-year-old man is accused of assaulting an acquaintance with a machete Monday afternoon in Benicia, according to the Benicia Police Department. Two officers responded at 3:35 p.m. Monday to investigate reports of an assault at a residence in the 1800 block of Lindo Street, Benicia Police Department Public Information Officer Irma Widjojo said in a statement.
Two men were found injured at the residence and were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
As officers were at the scene investigating, Benicia police took to social media to ask the public to avoid the area of Lindo and Viewmont streets, near East 5th Street.

The investigation revealed the two men knew each other, and that when one of the men attacked the other, the victim fought back in self-defense, Widjojo said Tuesday.
Mark Bourassa, 68, was identified by police as the attacker.

Bourassa was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon — a machete — and was booked into Solano County jail, Widjojo told Patch.
According to jail records, Bourassa's bail was set at $35,000.
Benicia PD thanked residents of the affected neighborhood for their patience and understanding as the case was investigated Monday night.
