"MARTINEZ NATIVE SOLO ART SHOW OF CATS, DRAGONS, MANGA AND OTHER SUBJECTS IN BENICIA SEPT 27"

Benicia, CA [09/16/2015] --12-year-old Shira Bachmann will have her first solo art show Sunday,
September 27, from 2 - 4 PM at the Linden Tree Studio, 940 Tyler St #4, Benicia. The exhibit will
consist of about 30 drawings, watercolors, paintings, ceramic sculptures, wire sculptures and 3D
wood and mixed media assemblages. Many of the art works are of cats,dragons, and manga characters; the assemblages
show cutaway views of fantasy houses.

Shira owns three cats and says she spends a lot of time watching them to learn how they look and
move. She usually starts a drawing by making a circle, going around it four times and then putting a
face on it or adding more circles to make a body. She has been taking art classes since she was six
and at the Linden Tree Art Classes in Benicia for the past 2-1/2 years. Her teacher, Mike Vitale,
says, “Shira is one of the most focused students I have ever had. This is the second solo show we
have held in the more than 10 years of our existence and the first for someone so young.” Shira
lives in Glen Cove (Vallejo) with her father, Edward Bachmann, MFC, who is the Deputy Conservator
for Contra Costa County, her mother, Suzanne Chasaolow, who is a professional musician, and her twin
brother, Ilan.

In addition to doing art, she loves learning about all kinds of wildlife and looking at animals. She
has shown her work in group shows at Arts Benicia, Visions in Education Charter School, the Linden
Tree, and Walnut Creek Civic Arts Center and sees herself being an artist the rest of her life. The
young artist, who is home schooled through Visions in Education, says she wants people to come to
her show and see what she has been doing. While the work is not for sale, Shira says she’d be happy
to make new art for people who want it.
