The Friday Poem: Midnight

Each Friday Benicia Patch will publish an original poem. If you would like to submit your own poem please send it to benicia@patch.com.

Midnight by by Colin Amato

We, like beacons of light
trying to find
drawn to each other
in a celestial dance of piping rhythm
Looking ahead towards the future
the void of uncertainty

Looking behind towards the past
seeing all the puzzle pieces fixed together
that is when your life has a random purpose.

Like ships in the great harbor
we are boats, with small lamps to guide us
to each other

It can be hard
the storms, clouds
raise doubts of the journey forward
but if we follow the path of the heroes before us
we find that even when we lose our way
lose ourselves at a moment of
MAN OVERBOARD!

we can recover
just look to the bright moon
the water leaping mermaids as they guide
guide us
to the proud protecting lighthouse

where we stand together and admire
the beautiful
blissful
sun
