Missing Oakland Girl May Be in North Bay Area

Her family is desperate to get the 12-year-old home before something horrible happens to her. She vanished from Union City last week.

Denitza Popov's voice is heavy with worry.

"I don't know if she's OK, if she's alive, how she's doing." Popov is talking about her 12-year-old daughter Anjelique, who disappeared from her grandmother's home in Union City on March 31.

One of Anjelique's former teachers bumped into her in San Francisco on April 2. She "saw her at the Powell BART station." The girl told the teacher that she was on her way to Golden Gate Park, where a "friend" was going to take care of her. When the teacher suggested she go home, Anjelique ran away.

Because of those circumstances, her family is worried about Anjelique's welfare. The child lives in Oakland and is a student at Urban Promise Academy. She had been staying with her grandmother for a week when she disappeared.

Popov contacted the organization Love Never Fails to help locate her daughter. Founder Vanessa Scott told Patch, "Time is of the essence to locate Angelique. If you want to help reunite this Mom with her daughter email us at info@loveneverfailus.com."

Popov hopes her daughter is home soon with Anjelique's little brother and sister, "I just want to plead with the community to be on the lookout for her. Bring her back home."
