Motorist Killed In Hit-And-Run Identified As American Canyon Man
The 20-year-old was struck in Vallejo Friday by a driver, who allegedly tried to flee the scene.

A driver killed in an alleged hit-and-run collision that injured his passenger in Vallejo on Friday afternoon has been identified as 20-year-old Juan Ayala of American Canyon, a deputy from the Solano County coroner’s office said today.
Ayala was driving a red Nissan Versa north on Couch Street where a white Toyota Highlander struck his vehicle around 3:30 p.m., police said.
The impact of the collision just north of Redwood Street caused the Nissan to roll leaving Ayala and his passenger injured, according to police.

Ayala was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead around 5:15 p.m., the deputy said.
His passenger was transported to a hospital and was in serious condition as of Friday night, police said.

The driver of the Toyota, identified as 23-year-old Vallejo resident Jermaine Toliver, was taken into custody after he allegedly tried to flee the scene, police said.
Toliver was booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol.
