New Benicia Firm’s Grand Opening Will Double as Book Drive
Company's founder grew up with slain Vallejo policeman's wife.
Golden Gate Staffing, a family owned business that recently moved to Benicia, specializes in temporary staffing and bundled payroll services for clients throughout the Bay Area and California. The company will hold a Grand Opening celebration Wednesday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. at their new location, 2134 Columbus Parkway.
While the celebration is meant to introduce the firm to the community, there is more to the story. The Vallejo Times Herald reports that Lori Schaeffer who, runs Golden Gate, grew up with the wife of slain Vallejo police officer . Officer Capoot was known to many in the Vallejo community due to his work as a police officer and as a coach for the Vallejo High School girls basketball team.
When Jennifer Capoot and Schaeffer attended an event to honor the slain officer at the Starting Gate School in Vallejo, the idea for the book drive took root. The school named a new library after Capoot but needed books to fill the shelves.
