New Owners of Benicia's Double Rainbow Cafe Plan a Few Changes

They will open earlier and expand the morning menu to include an all you can eat buffet.

The big scoop on First Street is that new owners at the  , Lily Javaheri and her husband Moe Khosravi are considering introduction of an all you can eat breakfast buffet.

Khosravi first moved to the United States 17 years ago and he and Javaheri have maintained a long distance relationship for much of that time.  She is an OB/GYN by training and also taught English in her native Iran.  She was a practicing physician when Moe first left Iran to come to America and shortly after he received his green card in the United States, she got her pink slip in Iran.

For the past 15 years Moe would spend nine months in the United States working and three months in Iran with Lily.  Then a year ago Lily left Iran to be with Moe full time and to chase their American dream together.

“My motto in life is to be useful and make people happy,” said Lily.  “In this business I’ll make people comfortable and make them happy.”

Besides the all you can eat buffet they plan to open the café at 8 a.m.  “We talked to many people and they are all excited about the buffet” said Khosravi.

The couple purchased the business from and his wife Cindy who opened the café in June 1996. Messina has said he is planning to run for Solano County Supervisor.  He has already opened a campaign account and has raised about $8,000.

The Messinas made the decision after health issues forced Cindy to step away from day-to-day operations.

Lily and Moe are excited about their new business.  “America is a really nice country,” said Lily.  “And Benicia has really nice people.”
