Officers Respond To Shooting Reports, Find Drugs: Benicia PD

Officers found shell casings; and in a stop of a car matching the description from callers, drugs and weapons were found, police said.

BENICIA, CA — The Benicia Police Department is investigating a shooting reported Friday night in the city. Multiple 911 calls were received about 9:20 p.m. Sept. 6 about multiple gunshots heard in the area of Hasting and Devonshire drives, police said.

Officers responded and found eight shell casings in the middle of the road.

As police were canvassing the area, an officer stopped a vehicle that matched the description in one of the 911 calls.

Police said a 31-year-old Benicia man driving the car denied having any involvement in the shooting but did consent to a search which resulted in the recovery of a small amount of methamphetamine, heroin, paraphernalia, a dirk and metal knuckles.

The man was arrested, cited out of the Benicia Police Department and released, according to police.
