Pedestrian From Benicia Fighting For His Life After Being Struck Crossing Santa Rosa Street: Police

BREAKING: The man is suffering life-threatening injuries and a fractured skull, officer said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A Benicia man is suffering from life-threatening injuries after a vehicle hit him late Friday night in Santa Rosa, police said Saturday.

Officers were dispatched at 11:27 p.m. on a report of a collision near Santa Rosa and Powderhorn avenues.

In the road, officers found 55-year-old Joseph Muth who was unconscious and suffering from significant injuries including a fractured skull, according to police.

Muth collided with a white 1994 Pontiac Grand Am driven by a Santa Rosa man, 65.

Muth was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. The driver of the Pontiac stopped and cooperated with police.

Officers said their investigation showed that Muth was trying to cross Santa Rosa Avenue outside of a crosswalk.

The driver of the Pontiac was driving north on Santa Rosa Avenue on wet roads and did not initially see Muth and could not avoid him. The driver of the Pontiac did not appear to be intoxicated and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
