Real McCoy Ferry In Service Soon; J-Mack Going Out Of Service

Caltrans announced repairs are complete to the Real McCoy Ferry and its dock.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — With repairs to the State Route 84 Real McCoy Ferry and its dock complete, the ferry is scheduled to be back up and running early next month but in two stages —and at about the same time the State Route 220 J-Mack Ferry goes out of service.

The Real McCoy, which provides service to Ryer Island and its visitors by crossing the Cache Slough in Rio Vista., will run from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Wednesday, Sept. 4, until Saturday, Sept. 7, when it will be in service from 5 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9. The Real McCoy will then run from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9 through the morning of Saturday, Sept. 14.

Then, starting at 5 p.m. Sept. 14, the Real McCoy will return to full service, departing every 20 minutes on the hour, 20 minutes after the hour, and 40 minutes after the hour, 24 hours a day.

According to Caltrans District 4 Spokeswoman Janis Mara, The Real McCoy's dock has been repaired and modernized and the ferry has undergone repairs.

Mara noted that the Delta's companion ferry, the State Route-220 J-Mack Ferry, is scheduled to go out of service starting Wednesday Sept. 4 for repairs and federally mandated Coast Guard inspections.

"The J-Mack could be returned to service by late November, depending on the progress of repairs and inspections," Mara said. "Caltrans apologizes for the inconvenience to businesses and residents in the area. We appreciate your patience as we work to maintain our Delta ferries."
