Recognize Him? Benicia Police Say He Stole A Donation Jar

The donation jar was meant to assist the family of a convenience store employee who recently passed away, police said.

BENICIA, CA — The Benicia Police Department is hoping someone in the community recognizes a man suspected of stealing a donation jar from a local convenience store.

Around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, the man pictured in the above surveillance images walked into Bob's Food and Liquor on West J Street in Benicia and distracted the clerk, then took the donation jar, Benicia police said in a social media post.

An employee of the store recently passed away, and the jar was for donations intended to help the employee's surviving family members, according to police.

Police asked anyone who recognizes the suspect to call 707-745-3411.

The Benicia Police Officers Association did make a donation to cover the loss to assist the family, police said.
