SOLANO COUNTY, CA — The Solano County Department of Resource Management, Public Works division, is coordinating with the Solano Transportation Authority and Caltrans to inform the public that Caltrans will start construction of a roundabout at the intersection of State Route 12 and State Route 113 – approximately six miles west of the City of Rio Vista in unincorporated Solano County – beginning Saturday morning, April 27.

SR 12 and SR 113 will be open to all vehicles during construction. One lane is anticipated to be open in each direction during daylight hours while potential nighttime work may have periods of one-way traffic flow. Drivers are encouraged to plan accordingly, factor in additional travel time and to pay close attention to all posted speed limits and construction crews.

Bird’s Landing Road near Rio Vista will be closed at the intersection of SR-12 and SR-113 from May 2 – 7 for Caltrans crews to perform paving activities on the roundabout project. Changeable message signs and Caltrans flaggers will be on hand to direct traffic, and a detour will be in place. Residents will be able to access their homes and property during construction.

A Caltrans construction project, the new roundabout aims to reduce traffic collisions by streamlining the flow of traffic through the intersection, removing the need for vehicles to cross highways. Construction of the roundabout is anticipated to be complete by mid-October and is subject to change.
