San Pablo Bay Cleanup Operations Wrap Up After Oil Sheen Dissipates

Possible sources still under investigation, officials said. [Breaking]

NORTH BAY, CA – A unified command set up in response to the petroleum sheen found Wednesday night in the waters off Vallejo and Rodeo demobilized Friday after the sheen dissipated, according to the United States Coast Guard.

The incident does not require any further cleanup, but the Coast Guard and the state Department of Fish and Wildlife are investigating a range of potential sources. No new sheen has been observed since Wednesday,
however.

Containment boom is still in the area, but it's scheduled to be removed today. No oiled wildlife has been reported, according to the Coast Guard.

The Phillips 66 Rodeo refinery marine dock remains temporarily shut down but other refinery operations are unaffected, Coast Guard officials said.

The incident generated at least 800 calls to 911 Wednesday night in Vallejo, according to city officials. A number of residents reportedly went to a hospital.
