Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Celebrates Switch To Solar Power
The Vallejo amusement area will hold an opening event along with the 2019 launch of "Holiday in the Park" events.
VALLEJO, CA — Six Flags Discovery Kingdom on Friday is celebrating its switch to solar power with a ceremony Friday evening attended by local elected officials.
The park on Fairgrounds Drive in Vallejo has partnered with the firms sPower and Borrego Solar Systems for the switch to solar power.
It will be commemorated with a 5 p.m. event that also marks the start of Six Flags' annual Holiday in the Park.

U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, and Vallejo Mayor Bob Sampayan are among the expected speakers at the event, where a giant switch will be flipped to turn on the lights on a 65-foot Christmas tree and surrounding buildings.
The park will be open on select days between Friday and Jan. 5 for Holiday in the Park.
