Solano Co. Deputies Shoot, Injure Armed Benicia Man: Sheriff
BREAKING: An investigation is underway into a deputy-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday night in Benicia, authorities say.

BENICIA, CA — A Benicia man was shot and injured by Solano County sheriff's deputies Tuesday night after he allegedly shot at them first. The deputy-involved shooting happened shortly after 6 p.m. when deputies went to conduct a felony probation compliance check at a home in the 700 block of Primrose Lane — off Rose Drive near Benicia Community Park — the Solano County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
"While at the residence, 25-year old Chase Wiley of Benicia, armed himself with a rifle and fired upon deputies," the statement continued. "Deputies returned fire, striking Wiley at least once."
Deputies reportedly then performed life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived and took Wiley to an area hospital.

Wiley underwent surgery and was in recovery, according to sheriff's officials.
No deputies were injured in the incident and the three involved deputies have been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.

Under the Solano County Officer Involved Shooting Protocol, the incident is being investigated by the Benicia Police Department with assistance from the Solano County District Attorney's Office and the Solano County Sheriff's Office.
