Solano Co. Man Killed When Struck By Car: Police

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred Tuesday night in Vallejo, police said. At 9:33 p.m., Vallejo police officers responded to a report of a man down in the center median of Columbus Parkway north of Tennessee Street.

There, officers found 51-year-old Earnest Howard of Vallejo unresponsive in the street.

The initial investigation revealed that Howard was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lane as he attempted to cross Columbus Parkway, and was thrown into the northbound lane. The vehicle fled the scene, police said.

According to police, Howard was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are working to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision, police said.
