Solano County Emergency Proclamation And Curfew Update

"The Emergency Proclamation will remain in effect and I can impose a new curfew at a moment's notice if necessary to protect our community."

June 4, 2020

Monday night was one of the most violent and chaotic nights in my 40 years of law enforcement. That evening I spoke with Police Chiefs from around the county advising them of my desire to issue a Proclamation of a Local Emergency. They concurred and early Tuesday morning I issued the proclamation. At the same time, I also imposed a county-wide curfew between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. This was necessary to protect our businesses, residents and community as a whole.

As of 5 a.m. this morning, I have allowed the curfew to expire as I am hopeful that the rioting and looting is now behind us. This was a difficult decision that I made after factoring in the events of the past few nights and the intelligence that my staff has provided me. The Emergency Proclamation will remain in effect and I can impose a new curfew at a moment’s notice if necessary to protect our community. I want our businesses to open back up, our residents to be able to move around freely, and our community to protest peacefully.

Please understand the county curfew expiration is separate from any curfew that an individual city has enacted such as the City of Vallejo. I want to thank all of you for your support and kind words in these trying times. If there are any questions regarding this release, please contact Captain Rustin Banks at 707-784-6873.
