On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, Solano County Public Health Officer, Dr. Bela Matyas, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, released guidance for vulnerable populations and social distancing recommendations. Social distancing is a means to reduce interactions between people to slow the spread of disease in the community. One of the recommendations is guidance for cancelling large gatherings, including community events, where large numbers of people, particularly strangers, are within arm's length of one another. Based on its anticipated size, this guideline includes the postponement of the Solano County Job Fair and Career Expo community event.
"The event has garnered a tremendous amount of community support with more than 380 people already registered," said Jeannine Seher, Assistant Director of Human Resources and the event organizer. “While we are disappointed to have to postpone the event, we want to follow the precautionary measures of our Public Health Officials who are looking out for the best interest of our community.”
