Solano County Passes Declaration for 'State of Emergency' Following Quake

The Solano County Board of Supervisors this morning passed a resolution declaring the county in a state of emergency from Sunday’s 6.0-magnitude earthquake.

The resolution applies mainly to county buildings in Vallejo that sustained an estimated $750,000 in damage. The board voted 4-0 to declare the state of emergency and to instruct the County Administrator’s Office to seek state and federal assistance for reimbursement of resources lost in the quake.

Supervisor Skip Thomson was absent from today’s meeting. The Solano County Health & Social Services offices in Vallejo were yellow-tagged and closed on Monday.

Residences in need of those services were diverted to those offices in Fairfield. Board of Supervisors chair Linda Seifert said the Solano County Superior Courthouse in Vallejo also was damaged by the quake, but the bottom floor reopened today.
