Every summer professional ballet companies around the world look for new talent. This year many looked to the Benicia Ballet School dancers. We have young ladies and men with Alvin Ailey's school of dance, Santa Barbara, Sacramento Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, the Bolshoi, the Rock School of Pennsylvania Ballet, and American Academy of Ballet in New York. That just names a few of the invitations.
We have one who is going all the way to China to show her talent. Tara McAninch 17, a senior this fall at Benicia High School, was selected to be a member of the 2013 "U.S. Ballet Ambassadors to China" this summer with the Long Beach Ballet. She will represent the United States in China and spend three weeks training and rehearsing with the Long Beach Ballet with master teachers. She will then fly to China compliments of the Chinese government, spend a week studying with the National Ballet of China in Guangzhou, then be escorted on a two week performance tour 9 shows throughout various cities in their country.
I send this blog out to celebrate all of our dancers and wish them well in their adventures. They are certainly missed at home and look forward to their return.
