Teacher Union Clarifies Endorsements in Benicia School Board Race
The union sent out a card to residents that clears up a mistake in an ad they ran in a local magazine.

The ad mixed the lists of people endorsing the two candidates but many who were named in the ad don’t support both candidates. According to the union it was a clerical error and they were unaware it had happened until the magazine came out with the ad that had the incorrect information.
“BTA regrets any misunderstanding caused by this clerical error that merged the separate lists into one. This was simply an honest mistake on the part of BTA, and neither Mr. Stewart nor Mr. Wing were aware the lists would appear in this manner,” said Benicia Teachers Association president Carleen Maselli.

Besides the press release, the union has sent an official endorsement card to every household in Benicia that received Benicia Magazine.
The union didn’t say how much the extra mailing cost, but other candidates on the ballot in the November 8 election are spending $3,000 - $4,000 each time they send out a piece of campaign mail.
