Three Fairfield Men Arrested for Attempted Armed Robbery

The suspects tried to rob a necklace from a man and one of the suspects fired a bullet into the victim's nearby parked car when he refused.

Fairfield police arrested three men and recovered three guns in connection with an attempted armed robbery Thursday morning, a police sergeant said.

The suspects tried to rob a necklace from a man around 8:45 a.m. on El Dorado Court, Sgt. Jeff Osgood said.

One of the suspects fired a bullet into the victim’s nearby parked car when he refused to surrender his necklace, and the suspects fled toward an apartment complex on El Cerrito Court, Osgood said.

Officers saw one of the suspects, Dominic Navarro, 22, of Fairfield, fleeing an apartment with a backpack. Navarro abandoned the backpack but was caught a short time later, Osgood said.

The backpack contained three loaded handguns, none of which were reported stolen, Osgood said.

Police arrested two other suspects when they left the apartment, Manuel Rodrigues and Khalan Johnson, both 19 of Fairfield, for robbery, conspiracy and shooting into a vehicle, Osgood said.

Navarro was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a concealed and loaded weapon, resisting or obstructing an officer and a probation violation, Osgood said.

All three suspects were identified as being among the four men that the victim said tried to rob him, Osgood said.
