Softball on Hold At Least Two More Weeks Because of Damage to Lights
Earliest date to resume is May 11 but it could be later.

The at the is greater than originally thought and won't be fixed until the second week of May at the earliest, according to Rick Knight of the city's Parks and Community Services Department.
Adult rec league softball games have been canceled since the thieves attempted to steal copper wire Wednesday and damaged the lights.
Knight estimates the work will take about a week but, because the project is valued at more than $1,000, the city must get at least three bids. Only one company, Palmer Electric, has bid on the project.

"The initial estimates are between $7,000 and $8,000," said Knight.
He said he plans to contact two more local electrical contractors to get bids and figures those won't be in until next week.

"In a perfect world, the softball season can resume on May 11," said Knight, acknowledging that could be overly optimistic.
