Vallejo Beating Death Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

VALLEJO - A 27-year-old man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to the murder and battery of his girlfriend in Vallejo two weeks ago.

Vallejo resident Troy Austin allegedly beat 47-year-old Samantha Rhone, also of Vallejo, outside a residence in the 400 block of Wallace Avenue around 10 p.m. on May 19.

Rhone died a few hours later on May 20 in a hospital, police detective Mat Mustard said.

Austin was arrested at 450 Benicia Road on May 20.

He is being held under no bail in Solano County Jail and his next court date is July 1 in Solano County Superior Court in Vallejo.
