Vallejo Man Facing 50 Years To Life For For Shooting Death Of Mom's Boyfriend

SOLANO COUNTY, CA – A Vallejo man faces 50 years to life in prison for the first-degree murder of his mother's boyfriend in 2014.

Robert Santisteven Jr., 24, was convicted Monday of the shooting murder on Feb. 2, 2014 of Joseph Dyer in a shed at the Vallejo Mobile Estates where his mother lived, Solano County District Attorney Krishna Abrams said in a news release.

Santisteven was upset about how Dyer treated his mother, and he shot Dyer once in the head at close range, Abrams said.

Santisteven tried to cover up the murder by removing electronic recording equipment he believed recorded the murder, but police recovered evidence that captured portions of it, Abrams said.

Santisteven was seen inside the shed at the time of the murder and fleeing immediately after the shooting, Abrams said. Santisteven made incriminating statements to his girlfriend and to a Solano County Jail inmate
who testified against him as an informant, Abrams said.

Santisteven also faces a trial in January for the alleged attempted murder of his former cellmate. A date for his sentencing on the murder conviction will be set Aug. 31.
