Vallejo Opens Emergency Operations Center During Blaze
All asked to conserve water, limit calls to public safety agencies to dire emergencies, as dispatchers "overwhelmed" by calls.

BENICIA, CA — The City of Vallejo said it has activated its Emergency Operations Center while firefighters battle a brushfire along Interstate Highway 80, as well as issues related to the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff.
The city has also issued a mandatory water conservation notice and is asking the public to limit calls to public safety agencies to dire emergencies, saying dispatchers are being "overwhelmed" by calls.
The fire has burned about 55 acres at the city's southern end east of the bridge toll plaza near the Cal Maritime Academy and Glen Cove, the city said Areas under evacuation orders are the Cal Maritime Academy, Navone Street and Pueblo Way, Jordan Street and Swanzy Court, and Waterview Terrace and Bayside Terrace.

Cal Maritime Academy says they safely evacuated
Because of the power outage, city water resources are limited to what was pumped into reservoirs before the electrical deactivation.

The needs of firefighters have further strained the system, according to officials.
"Outdoor water systems must be turned off. Residents must restrict water use as much as possible," the city said in an advisory.
Police staffing has been increased "to support fire efforts, and provide additional patrols," the city said, and street and traffic crews are on standby with generators planned for operational buildings and infrastructure.
Residents in some areas may encounter low water pressure.
Island Energy has turned off power at Mare Island, but the U.S. Coast Guard telecom facility has a stand-by generator, the city said.
