Vallejo Police Officer Tests Positive For Coronavirus
The officer has been self-quarantining at home in Solano County since returning from international travel, the Vallejo Police Dept. says.
SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A Vallejo police officer is self-quarantining at his home in Solano County after testing positive for the new coronavirus, COVID-19, the Vallejo Police Department said Monday. Vallejo police officials did not identify the male officer, but said when he returned earlier this month from traveling internationally, he was directed to self-quarantine by Vallejo police leadership.
"Our officer has not been to the Vallejo Police Department since returning from travel, nor has he had any contact with officers, employees, or citizens in the City of Vallejo since his trip," Vallejo police Capt. Jason Potts said. "He is self-quarantining at home in Solano County, where he has been experiencing mild symptoms for approximately eight days."
The officer's symptoms have included dry throat, mild body aches and fatigue. the captain said.

"He was tested six days ago and just now received the results," Potts said. "He is currently still experiencing mild symptoms and will continue to be under self-quarantine until he is cleared to return by his medical physician."

Potts said Vallejo PD has taken proactive steps to protect officers and citizens during this evolving coronavirus outbreak by minimizing the risk of exposure while continuing vital services.
"Proactive and aggressive contingency planning has also been deployed to mitigate potential impacts," Potts said. "Our members are designated by state law as disaster service workers and are committed to this endeavor."
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Solano County jumped Monday afternoon by 7 cases, from 14 to 21. Solano County Public Health officials said nine of those 21 cases were active, their illness having been confirmed fewer than eight days ago.
As of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, officials have confirmed the following number of cases in the greater Bay Area region:
- Alameda County: 122 cases, 1 death (106 at last check Monday)
- Contra Costa County: 71 cases, 1 death (61 cases, 1 death as of Monday)
- Marin County: 47 cases (38 on Monday)
- Monterey County: 20 cases, 1 death (14 cases, 1 death on Monday)
- Napa County: 2 cases (2 on Monday)
- San Francisco County: 152 cases (131 on Monday)
- San Mateo County: 161 cases, 1 death (117 cases, 1 death as of Monday)
- Santa Clara County: 321 cases, 13 deaths (302 cases, 10 deaths as of Monday)
- Santa Cruz County: 24 cases (23 on Monday)
- Solano County: 21 cases (14 on Monday)
- Sonoma County: 27 cases, 1 death (25 on Monday)
- Statewide: 1,733 cases, 27 deaths (1,468 cases, 27 deaths as of Monday)
