Vigil To Mark 1 Year Since Solano Co. Girl's Abduction, Disappearance

Breaking: The community is invited to a vigil Thursday afternoon to remember and pray for Pearl Pinson, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- A vigil is planned this afternoon in Vallejo to mark one year since the disappearance of Pearl Pinson. The then-15-year-old was last seen walking to school when authorities say she was abducted by 19-year-old Fernando Castro -- who was killed during a shootout with law enforcement in southern California after his car was spotted during an Amber Alert.

Pearl was not in the car at that time and her whereabouts remain unknown, according to a statement published Thursday by the Solano County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's officials said Pearl's family is holding a community gathering at 4 p.m. Thursday at Vallejo Little League field on Rollingwood Drive. The purpose of the vigil is to share memories of Pearl and pray for her return.
