Workers Inspecting Gas Meters In Benicia, Vallejo: PG&E
PG&E is sending automated calls about the inspections to customers who have a phone number listed on their PG&E online account.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Pacific Gas & Electric Co. advised of routine gas meter inspections taking place this week in the cities of Vallejo and Benicia. Contract workers are expected to conduct some 10,000 inspections at both residential and commercial properties through Thursday, May 25 as part of "PG&E’s ongoing efforts to provide safe and reliable gas service to customers," a spokeswoman for the utility company said.
"The contractors with Underground Construction will carry a mobile phone or tablet in order to take pictures, PG&E Spokeswoman Contreras said. "They will be wearing a PG&E hard hat and PG&E safety vest but their shirt will have the contractor logo. They will not be in PG&E vehicles but will have a PG&E placard on the door and in the windshield. Workers will carry photo identification and fact sheets, which they will present upon request."

Contreras said contractors will not enter homes as part of the inspections, nor will the work affect gas service.
"If you ask for an ID or badge and you still feel uncomfortable, call PG&E's customer service line at 1-800-743-5000 to verify PG&E's presence in the community," Contreras said.

The spokeswoman added that in the event a meter cannot be accessed, PG&E will schedule a visit and inspect the meter on a future date — with all the inspections expected to conclude by the end of the month barring unforeseen delays such as inclement weather.
